Abstract:
The translation presented in this dissertation consists of the subtitling of a documentary which took part in the Human Rights Nights film festival in its last edition of March 2004. In the first chapter the film itself, as well as its main features –setting, themes discussed, interviewees and the film director- are commented upon. The second chapter presents the festival, alongside with the manual projecting method used to show the subtitles, and the way the translation work was influenced by this technique. The third chapter consists of the commentary on the translation, where the reader was able to read about the translation strategies used, the difficulties encountered in the process and the solutions adopted. The subtitles are in the fourth chapter, along with the original script.
